Women Build is our annual campaign that rallies women and men together to empower women-led households through safe and affordable homeownership. From wall raisings to home dedications, we have walked alongside 31 Women Build homebuyers since 2011 as they turned their dreams of affordable homeownership into reality.
This year, we had the privilege of witnessing this milestone twice.
Trinity takes in the moment during her home dedication, celebrating her journey to affordable homeownership.
On March 28, Trinity, a single mother of three, celebrated her home dedication while surrounded by Habitat supporters, volunteers, and loved ones.
For years, Trinity and her three kids were living in survival mode, navigating life in an unsafe, deteriorating home that deeply impacted their quality of life. Despite every obstacle, Trinity stayed determined to build the life her family deserved.
“This is life-changing,” Trinity said at her home dedication. “We’re going from surviving to living. We have nothing left to do aside from enjoying and building memories instead of worrying about what our next move is.”
On April 17, Trinity officially closed on her home, but the celebrations weren’t over yet.
On May 9, just ahead of Mother’s Day, we gathered again to celebrate Dominique’s home dedication.
As a single mother of five, Dominique stayed motivated by her dream of providing a safe place where her children could simply be kids.
Before partnering with Habitat, the unsafe conditions in their neighborhood made it difficult for her children to play outside freely without worrying about their safety. Inside their house, the limited space no longer met the needs of three growing boys and two girls.

Dominique was filled with gratitude at her dedication, knowing the day meant the beginning of a new chapter of the safety and stability her family had been longing for.
“No matter what came my way, I never gave up,” Dominique said. “My kids are now able to go outside and play and not have to run from danger.”
To reach this milestone, both Dominique and Trinity completed 300 sweat equity hours, attended more than 20 hours of homeownership education courses, and paid $2,000 in closing costs.
Dominique’s and Trinity’s dreams of homeownership were realized by our community coming together to raise a fundraising total of $507,330! This year’s funds also supported 10 additional women through Habitat’s housing counseling services.
