Future Habitat Homeowner Trinity at the 2026 Women Build Kickoff Party.
For Trinity, a single mother of three, survival had become a way of life for far too long. She and her two preteen twin boys and teenage daughter were living in an unsafe, deteriorating home that deeply impacted their quality of life.
The septic system no longer worked. The home had no central heating or air conditioning. Flooding had become so frequent that the family repeatedly lost belongings, leaving them with only the bare minimum. Despite everything, Trinity held tightly to what kept her grounded: her family. Now, she is filled with hope for the safety and stability their new Habitat home will bring.
Trinity’s future home is one of the two homes funded by this year’s Women Build, a campaign that empowers women-led households by engaging women and men in efforts to build safe and affordable homes.
When she was selected for Habitat’s Affordable Homeownership Program in September 2025, everything changed. Trinity breathed a sigh of relief knowing her long struggle with unreliable housing would soon come to an end.
Since entering the program, Trinity has completed more than 20 hours of homeownership education courses, paid $2,000 toward closing costs, and steadily worked toward her sweat equity requirements – often working weekends and squeezing in two weekdays on top of her full‑time job.
By mid‑February, she had already logged 154 sweat equity hours, a testament to her determination to build something better for her family.
Coming out of the foster care system as a child, the support and encouragement Trinity has experienced through Habitat has been overwhelming. “To have so many people who don’t know me love me and support me has just been such a beautiful experience,” Trinity shared. “From the counselors to the contractors – the knowledge they’ve given me, the love and support that they’ve shown – lets me know there are people that care. There is help when you feel helpless.”
She dreams of the moment her kids walk through the door of their new home, running to their rooms, knowing she made it possible. Trinity notices how grateful her children already are.
“My daughter literally looked at me and said, ‘Mom, all of this is going to be worth it,’” Trinity said. Her daughter’s encouragement keeps her motivated throughout her journey. Now, Trinity looks forward to even the simplest things, such as preparing her children a home cooked meal and finally feeling safe.
Having her home funded through Women Build fills Trinity with gratitude. “I just keep telling myself over and over that there was a purpose for everything, whether I understood it then or have a better understanding of it now. It makes me feel strong.”
With that strength, Trinity keeps working toward the future. She is grateful to everyone who helped make her dream of safe, affordable homeownership possible. “It’s so much more than a house for us,” Trinity said. “It gives us hope.”
