On April 11th, more than 60 volunteers joined us at our annual Volunteer Appreciation celebration.

Volunteers are vital in our work of building homes, communities, and hope in Lee and Hendry counties. On Tuesday, April 11th, more than 60 volunteers joined us at our annual Volunteer Appreciation, the first held in four years.

Future Habitat Homeowners Erick and Marangie with their two children Misael and Melanie.

We celebrated our volunteers’ dedication and hard work at the event by exemplifying their tangible impact on our mission. So far this year, we’ve had over 1,500 volunteers contribute nearly 40,000 hours of their time and talent to Habitat! Whether someone is a construction volunteer raising walls and pounding nails, a ReStore volunteer processing donations and helping customers, an administrative volunteer organizing mailings and entering data, or a Board Member who collaborates to find permanent solutions to the deepening affordable housing crisis, volunteers empower Habitat to continue serving families through affordable homeownership.

As an example of this empowerment, future Habitat Homeowners Erick and Marangie joined us at the event to share how volunteers impact families like theirs. As young parents of two children, Erick and Marangie partnered with Habitat to build a better future for their family and achieve the American Dream of homeownership.

“We’re really grateful for all your time and what you do,” Marangie shared while holding her daughter in her arms. “We can’t wait to have our home and host our family Christmas!”

Thank you, volunteers, for your endless support and commitment to building homes, communities and hope in Lee and Hendry counties!
