On Friday, January 24th, Fort Myers City Councilwoman, Teresa Watkins Brown, presented two Habitat for Humanity homebuyers with the keys to their new homes. Single mothers, Jessica and Jaekara, have completed their sweat equity, attended educational courses, paid $1700 towards closing costs—making them officially ready to purchase their new Habitat homes!

At the home dedication ceremonies, Jessica and Jaekara were given ceremonial gifts, including an American Flag, a Holy Bible, and a door knocker. The homes were then blessed by Habitat for Humanity staff member, Dax Urbina, and Councilwoman Watkins Brown presented the home keys.

Speaking to the Jessica and Jaekara, Councilwoman Watkins Brown said: “As I hand you these keys, I pray that the blessing of this house not only brings you peace, not only brings you joy, but it brings you a blessing of prosperity and the hope for your family which you desire.”

Through partnering with Habitat for Humanity of Lee and Hendry Counties, Jessica and Jaekara, now have an opportunity to prosper in safe and decent homes they can afford.
