Building Together, Thriving Together

A stable home provides a solid foundation for one’s life; it’s where plans are made, children grow, and memories are cherished.

As the demand for decent, affordable housing increases in our community, Habitat for Humanity of Lee and Hendry Counties has expanded our services to serve every family who comes to us with a need and a willingness to partner. While the cornerstone of our mission is building new homes, we do so much more. We build, restore, repair, preserve, beautify and educate. When the housing need has never been greater, we do all of this to offer families the opportunity to build better lives for themselves and their children.

After partnering with Habitat, Gwendolyn is now experiencing the self-reliance she needs for her and her three sons. Paying an affordable mortgage that costs less than 30% of her income means she can plan for the future.

Here’s how we’re helping people live in decent, stable homes:

Affordable Homeownership Program

The Affordable Homeownership Program is the cornerstone of our mission. We partner with low-income-earning individuals and families to help them achieve their dream of homeownership. Qualified homebuyers show a need for better housing, the willingness to partner and the ability to pay an affordable mortgage.

HUD-Approved Housing Counseling

The Housing Counseling Program provides counseling to families and individuals seeking to finance, maintain or own a home. Our Housing and Urban Development (HUD) certified housing advisors provide one-on-one housing counseling and guidance to help families and individuals achieve their goals.
Housing Counseling services include:

Home Preservation and Repair

Our Home Preservation and Repair services restore homes to a safe and whole condition. Generously funded by donors and local government partners, we offer programs that help people avoid fines for open code violations, address critical damage to their homes, and recover from hurricanes.

Current Home Preservation and Repair programs include:

Hurricane Recovery Home Repair Program

The Hurricane Recovery Program is designed for low-income earning residents who own their homes in Lee County. The program covers the cost of rebuilding the homes of eligible homeowners to make them whole. Examples of repairs may include but are not limited to roof repair or replacement, siding, drywall, painting, windows and doors.

Fort Myers CRA Owner-Occupied Repair Program

We have partnered with the Fort Myers Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) to help homeowners resolve open code violations and complete home maintenance projects in the Martin Luther King redevelopment area. These projects focus on repairing or replacing roofs, windows, siding and more.

Cape Coral Emergency Owner-Occupied Repair Program

We have partnered with the the City of Cape Coral to offer emergency home repairs to homeowners. This assistance provides repairs to major systems, including roof, HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning), plumbing, electrical, well and septic.
