Home Repair Program

Neighborhood Revitalization Home Repair Program

Habitat for Humanity has expanded its services to include home repairs for qualified families in need. Through volunteer labor and donations of money and materials, Habitat offers help to provide non-emergency home repairs for partner families including:

  • Appliance Replacement
  • Blown-in Attic Insulation
  • Exterior Door Replacement
  • Exterior Painting
  • Exterior Steps Repair or Replacement
  • Exterior Window Repair
  • Fence (if safety or security issue)
  • Garage Door
  • HVAC (air conditioning)

Note: Standard home improvements are not considered.

Sweat Equity

Home Repair Program participants must be willing to partner with Habitat by contributing sweat equity hours.

  • Minor Electrical Repairs
  • Minor Floor and Wall Repair
  • Minor Plumbing Repairs
  • Ramp (porch or wheelchair ramp construction)
  • Roof/Soffit/Gutters Repair or Replacement
  • Septic
  • Siding/Stucco Repair
  • Water Heater Replacement
  • Water System/Well
  • Weatherization/Windows and Door

Cost and Repayment

All applicants are expected to repay the cost of repairs over time. To be eligible for Habitat’s Neighborhood Revitalization Home Repair Program, your total household income cannot exceed 80% of the area median income, adjusted for family size.

Families may or may not have acquired their homes originally through Habitat. Following are the guidelines that qualifying families must meet for the Neighborhood Revitalization Home Repair Program:

  • Household income is below 80% AMI (area median income)
  • Willing and financially able to repay Habitat for work done
  • Willing to partner with Habitat by contributing sweat equity hours
  • Real estate/property taxes are paid current
  • Demonstrate a need for Habitat’s assistance
  • Proof of homeownership, with applicant’s name(s) listed on title
  • Have lived in the house for at least one year
  • Be in good standing on mortgage payments (if applicable)
