Our Vision: A world where everyone has a decent place to live

Global Village

Building hope is an integral part of Habitat for Humanity's mission, and extends around the globe through tithes paid by the affiliates. A portion of tithes paid by Habitat for Humanity of Lee and Hendry Counties is allocated to Habitat's global fund which supports our sister affiliates in Haiti, Nicaragua, Dominican Republic, Colombia and Guatemala.

Designed to immerse and educate, Habitat for Humanity Global Village hosts travelers who want to change the world through eliminating poverty housing - one trip at a time. Local Habitat volunteers have the opportunity to follow our tithe to various countries to provide decent shelter to families experiencing extreme poverty.

2018 Global Village Journey

The Kingdom of Lesotho, Africa | October 5-13, 2018

About Lesotho, Africa

Lesotho landscapeLesotho is a small country in the middle of South Africa, as part of Habitat for Humanity's Orphans and Vulnerable Children Project. Join the team of local Habitat Board Members, staff and volunteers to build simple homes and latrines for children and their caretakers.

Lesotho has one of the world's highest rates of HIV/AIDS infection. Vulnerable children are defined as those children 18 years and under who have lost one or both parents to AIDS or those who, even if their parents are still alive, are in circumstances which make them vulnerable to abuse. Habitat in Lesotho works within community structures to identify and assist these children.

With 40% of Lesotho's people living beneath the international poverty line of $1.25 a day, and described by the UN as "ultra poor", Habitat's work in this country is critical. This Habitat Global Village trip is a journey to improve the living conditions of those in most need; and will give you the chance to truly change lives- including your own. Return inspired.
