Habitat Volunteers

On March 1st, Habitat raised a second home on Pine Island. In 2006, residents dedicated their first Habitat home to Cookie Zigler. Volunteers are needed at the site of the new home, 5951 Bonita Road in Bookelia. The Pine Island Steering Committee is continuing to fundraise for the $50,000 sponsorship of the home by selling pavers for the landscaping project at Woody’s Waterside Restaurant. In addition to this, the Winn Dixie Supermarket and local banks are selling paper Habitat homes along with other planned events.

During the month of March, Habitat for Humanity of Lee County will see hundreds of students on the construction sites. That's because many northern schools offer spring break options in the Sunshine state while also serving the community on their time off. We will post pictures of the groups as they come in.

Habitat for Humanity of Lee County is expanding its production style of homes in the community. The affiliate has traditionally built single-family homes in Lee County, but will now incorporate a twin villa style into its production. The first Habitat for Humanity of Lee County twin villa is already under construction on Nottingham Lane in Bonita Springs. The Bonita Bay Residents raised the walls on the twin villa on January 5th. The project will house two low-income families from the Lee County area.
On July 11th, WAY-FM radio and New Mission Systems International teamed up with Habitat for Humanity to recruit more than 200 volunteers from Lee County. The build raised four homes in Lehigh Acres and was a huge success. Thank you to all those who participated!
